STRAND 7:  VIEWING

Students view a wide range of visual texts prior to, during and post camp with purpose, understanding and critical awareness.

  • Excursions and tours
  • Environmental science activities
  • Orienteering & mapping skills
  • Photography & videos
 

STRAND 8:  READING

Students read a wide range of texts prior to and during the camp with purpose, understanding and critical awareness

Possible activities:

  • Reading instructions and rules
  • Gathering information about the camp site
  • Gathering information from tours (Museums)
 
 

STRAND 9:   WRITING

Students write for a range of purposes and in a range of forms using conventions appropriate to audience, purpose and context.

Possible activities:

  • Dairy / journal writing
  • Letters requesting information
  • Thank you letters & cards
  • Reports on activities & tours
  • Creative writing
  • Gathering information from museums & tours
  • Camp booklets & information
