STRAND 1,6 & 7: TECHNOLOGY PROCESS, TECHNOLOGY SKILLS & TECHNOLOGY IN SOCIETY 

Students apply operational, manipulative and organisational skills and processes of technology to create or modify products, systems, services or environments that meet human needs, realise opportunities and to solve technology challenges. Students understand how cultural beliefs, values, ethical positions and abilities influence attitudes towards technology, and the development and use of technology.

 Possible Activities
  • Problem solving activities (ropes course)
  • Design & make projects e.g. raft, kites
  • Plan & design improvements to the camp site
 

STRAND 2: MATERIALS

Students select and use materials which are appropriate to achieving intended solutions to a technology challenge

 Possible activities: 
  • Problem solving activities - using limited materials to best advantage
  • Art - design & produce items using various materials
  • Design & make projects using limited materials eg rafts
 

STRAND3: INFORMATION

Students select and use materials which are appropriate to achieving intended solutions to a technology challenge.

 

Possible activities:

STRAND 4: SYSTEMS

Students design, adapt and use systems to solve a technology challenge

Possible activities:

  • Design & make moveable objects using limited materials e.g. balloon propelled vehicles
  • Design & make rafts, kites, egg drop

STRAND 5: ENTERPRISE

Students accept challenges by initiating, organising, implementing and evaluating innovative strategies that create solutions to individual and community needs, and adopt acceptable codes of conduct in the pursuit and realisation of opportunities.
